The Parks and Recreation department is responsible for the New Community Center, Hopper Baseball Complex, Cox Athletic Field, The Gem Theater, City Park, Etowah Depot, a soccer complex and walking trail. The City of Etowah was named a Playful City for 2013 by the non proffit organization KaBOOM.
The department completed construction on a New Community Center located at 155 Robinson St. off of Highway 30 in December 2011. The new community center was made possible by a Local Parks & Recreation Fund grant (LPRF) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Community Center has various exercise programs for citizens of all ages.

The non profit organization KaBoom has honored the City of Etowah as a Playful City for 2013 and 2014 for our dedication to providing opportunities for all children to be able to have opportunities to play.
