The Parks and Recreation department is responsible for the New Community Center, Hopper Baseball Complex, Cox Athletic Field, The Gem Theater, City Park, Etowah Depot, a soccer complex and walking trail.
The department has recently completed construction on a New Community Center located at 155 Robinson St. off of Highway 30. The new community center was made possible by a Local Parks & Recreation Fund grant (LPRF) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Community Center has various exercise programs for citizens of all ages.
Brian Silber is the Director of Parks and Recreation. The Recreation Department of the City of Etowah is here to help the citizens of Etowah; please feel free to call or visit with us with any concern or need you may have.
Etowah Parks and Recreation is pleased to partner with Goss Sensei of Aikido Martial Arts Studio of Cleveland. Aikido is different from other martial arts, yet it incorporates the basic elements of many. Perhaps the most unusual aspect of Aikido is the artistic nature. Practitioners are required to think. Through Aikido, one begins using the principle of harmony between attack and defense. Conflict becomes controlled and through total awareness, one learns to redirect aggression. We call this the development in mind body coordination. The ultimate goal is self-improvement and the development of a balanced, harmonious character.
